We had a short ride of about 4 miles to get into Kentucky. They have an old railroad bridge over the Ohio river that they converted into a pedestrian path. This was very cool and also a very popular place to be. We were there on a weekday morning and there were hundreds of people on the bridge. The only problem… there was no welcome to Kentucky sign on the bridge.
A couple miles into downtown we pasted a folk art park and then stopped for hot dogs at a street vendor in the hospital district. There we met a security guard on a bike that stopped to talk to us for a while He was very interested in our trip. He has been on a few cross country bike trips and was involved in a lot of biking fundraisers. It is always fun to meet up with other cyclists.
Our goal for the day was to make Elizabethtown KY, but that did not happen. Ang called us and said we should take a detour to Churchhill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. So we headed over that way and took a tour, checked out the museum and had a little food.
